What are the benefits of simmering potpourri vs burning a candle?Listen, we're not here to scare you. Burning a candle or using a scent plug-in every now and then is probably OK. But candles and scent plug-ins contain compounds which can negatively impact our indoor air quality, and may be harmful in high enough doses. Candles contain some potentially harmful ingredients like: Soot and particulate matter - from burning wix, wax and fragrance Pthlates - are found in almost all synthetic fragrances, including candles and plug-ins VOCs - We were surprised to learn that most candles in the USA are made of paraffin wax, which release VOCs like Benzene into the air. You can read more about it here. Even candles that are soy-based may contain some paraffin - check the label - although a full list of ingredients isn't required by law, so make sure you're buying from a trustworthy source. That's where Simmerology comes in. Simmering aromatics means you are only bringing real, all-natural and non-toxic ingredients into your home including flower blossoms, berries, fruit, rare spices, botanical herbs & 100% real essential oils Simmerology's products contain NO Synthetic or Artificial Fragrances, Phthalates, VOCs, Petroleum, Soot, Particulate Matter, Paraffin Wax, Soy, Benzene, Acetone, or Toxins.
